HoosierMUN Misconduct Policy

HoosierMUN is committed to creating a conference environment that makes all delegates feel safe, respected, and included, both in and out of committee. Any form of misconduct will NOT be tolerated by the conference and will result in immediate action by the Secretariat. Depending on the severity of the infraction, the Secretariat reserves the right to remove the responsible delegate from committee for the rest of the conference and restrict them from entry to HoosierMUN for future conferences.

General Conduct Policies

  1. All delegates are expected to abide by all rules, regulations and policies of Indiana University, The Hamilton Lugar School of International Affairs, The Indiana Memorial Union, The Biddle Hotel, and any other place a delegate might find themselves on campus.

    • Delegates are expected to refrain from excessive noise and unscrupulous conduct on campus.

    • Delegates will not harass other Biddle Hotel guests, nor will delegates cause excess noise in The Biddle.

    • Delegates will not harass nor disrupt other delegates on campus and in committee.

    • Delegates will be mindful and respectful to any and all other students on campus that are not participating in HoosierMUN I.

    • The use of tobacco products of any kind, including but not limited to e-cigarettes and vapes are prohibited in any and all buildings (including The Biddle) on campus.

    • Use or possession of any kind of illegal substance, including marijuana products of any kind or paraphernalia, is strictly prohibited for all delegates.

    • Consumption or possession of any alcohol at any time, in any building (including The Biddle) is strictly prohibited regardless of the age of a delegate. Consumption of alcohol among underage delegates is prohibited in all situations.

  2. Delegates are expected to be present at and on time to all committee sessions. If a delegate anticipates being late or absent to committee sessions, they are expected to contact their chair and crisis director in advance.

  3. Delegates are expected to be respectful and thoughtful of all racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious affiliations, as well as follow any committee-specific expectations as laid out in their background guide, by their chair/vice-chair, and by their crisis director.

  4. Delegates will act in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws at all times.

  5. Delegates are expected to comply with the instructions of HoosierMUN staff members, hotel staff, IU campus police and security, law enforcement, and any other IU staff members.


Sexual and Social Misconduct Policy

Sexual Misconduct:

A broad range of unwelcome sexual behaviors/actions/violence that is usually facilitated by a power imbalance. These behaviors include, but are not limited to, harassment, stalking, unwanted sexual advances or touching, sexual abuse, and more.

Social Misconduct:

Any misconduct related to discrimination based on race, color, ethnicity, biological sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, or disability.

Essentially, social misconduct is any situation where a delegate feels harassed or discriminated against and the conduct doesn’t fall under sexual misconduct.

Please note, any potential cases of misconduct will most likely result in immediate investigation by Secretariat, and any other officials Secretariat deems necessary, and may result in disqualification from awards and/or dismissal from the conference.


Social Media Policy

Delegates should not us any social media, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, or any other kind of social media platform during committee sessions. Outside of committee sessions, delegates should practice appropriate conduct on any and all social media sites. Inappropriate usage, posting, or bullying via social media related to any aspect of HoosierMUN will not be tolerated, and appropriate actions will be taken by Secretariat.


Photo Policy

All delegates may be documented in photographic, videographic, or audiographic form during committee sessions and any other organized programming by HoosierMUN. If you would prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please email the Secretary-General, Dillon Burns, at secgen@hoosiermun.com with your full name, delegation, committee, and committee position. All efforts will be taken to make sure photos and videos aren’t taken and uploaded of these delegates, though Secretariat can’t make any firm promises on these requests.


Dress Code Policy

HoosierMUN requests that all delegates wear standard Western Business Attire while in committee is in session.
